Ever since states began issuing stay-at-home orders back in March, society has been shaken to its core with social distancing and isolation. People have been separated from their family, friends, and other loved ones for the sake of this new normal. According to an article from The Washington Post, there have been significant increases in depression and anxiety related to the loneliness that the coronavirus has caused. To combat this, many have taken steps to stay connected with their loved ones by calling, texting, and even playing virtual games to have fun. Virtual games, especially, are important in reminding us that we are all in this together and that we are more alike than we think.
From the shows we loved to watch when we were younger to the games we played on our gaming consoles, we all love to connect back to our childhood memories and what made them so fun and memorable! And when you combine nostalgia with beloved childhood shows, you get MILLENNIALTOONS, the card game that is bound to bring back fond memories. Like other companies, MILLENNIALTOONS has taken steps to connect people with their loved ones through creating a virtual version of their card game. The company is focused on helping all of us find new ways to engage with others, as well as keeping us all entertained!
MILLENNIALTOONS is a card game centered around television shows that aired in the 90s and 2000s, and is similar to charades and trivia. Split into groups, one person from one group picks up a white card and reads it to everyone so that they know what you plan to do, as well as how the clues are going to be given, such as through actions or describing an episode. Next, the same person will pick up one black card that has the name of a television show and will have to use the clues from the white card to have people guess what the show is. See, it’s that simple and fun! MILLENNIALTOONS has also created various versions of the game, so there is always more to do.
Whether you’re a few miles away or across the country from each other, MILLENNIALTOONS and other virtual games are dedicated to keeping our spirits up. Spending time with others is just as important as it was in the past, and now there are safe ways to do so. And no matter how far apart, remember that we are all connected in our common interests and shared memories of our favorite shows and games.
